How do I secure ebook download website?
Q. I want to create a store selling ebook through oscommerce. Do I need to add anything to secure it and prevent people from stealing the ebooks. How do I secure the download?

A. There are several ways to protect your assets. Additionally, there are a dozen ways to implement this kind protection. Since securing a web commerce site is such a multi-faceted issue, I would seriously consider hiring a professional web programmer to do it for you. Your security needs are unique, so it's not easy or practical to spit a few tips for you here. Find someone who knows what they're doing, sit down with them, discuss the site, and let them develop a security model that works for you and your site. BTW, osCommerce is an aging, rickety platform for creating business sites. It's large, clunky, hard to configure, and an overall pain. How do you write and publish your own ebook?

A. These are two questions in one, but I'll try to answer. Question #1: How do you write your own eBook? Writing is very different from what you learned in school. You write in a casual, friendly manner - like I'm doing here. It's an exchange of ideas. Don't be stiff in your text. Use contractions, etc. It helps to create an outline first and then let the information flow from one aspect to the next. Question #2: How do you publish your own eBook? Publishing is so easy! Adobe offers five free conversions from Word to PDF format PER email address. Then you zip it up, put it on your server (hopefully you've invested in a baby or hatchling plan at Hostgator for under $10 a month and a dot info domain only costs 99 cents at Godaddy). You… [cont.]
